Anthony Orchard
is an artist and author
who has been gifting his creations to family for over 30 years. With a background in industrial design and engineering, his one-of-a-kind, 3D cakes have become the centerpiece for every celebration.
He has written a series of books inspired by his surroundings growing up in Eastern England. All four coming-of-age books are filled with adventures, fortunes, and misfortunes... and the occasional dragon or giant.
Projects
Author
With four books completed, Anthony has recreated an East Anglia of AD 651 as the landscape for a series of coming-of-age tales with the added magic of giants and dragons.
Cake Builder
Anthony has been creating cakes for over 30 years for his family. With an average of 16 hours per cake, he enjoys seeing the cakes eaten as much as he enjoys seeing the person’s reaction.
Photographer
An avid walker, Anthony has always enjoyed looking at his surroundings and especially birds. All of his photos are spontaneously captured while out for a walk around Long Island, NY.
Artwork
Sketching has always been a foundation for design work, so time was rarely set aside for it outside of work. Anthony hopes retirement will give time to focus more to enjoying it, and other media, as an occupation.
Design
Anthony worked as an industrial designer first with MDI, a London based consultancy, then joined NCR/ATT in Long Island as an in-house designer. The last 26 years were with Integrated Design Systems, where he enjoyed a broad range of design projects, with responsibility for engineering as well as design.
Ida May
For much of the last year, Anthony has volunteered in the completion of this 50ft oyster dredge. All credit for this wonderful boat goes to Josh and his crew.
